Thermal Imaging… For Free!

Free Thermal Image Surveys!

Thanks to a generous grant from the Rural Communities Energy Support Network, Salisbury EcoHub Alliance CIO acquired two thermal imaging cameras in 2023. This enables us to survey houses and other buildings in order to pinpoint areas of heat loss, and we are now in our third winter of free surveys.

We attempt to run this service from mid-November onwards each year until some time in March. However, this is not always possible, as surveying is weather dependent. For good results, we need a difference of 10 degrees C or more between internal and external temperatures. If we assume room temperatures of 20 degrees, this means outside temperatures below 10 degrees. Unfortunately, due to global heating, such days are getting ever fewer, and the current (2025-6) winter has been the warmest yet (as well as the wettest!)
